Dido: life for rent

a review by Lucas Holt (10/2003)

"life for rent" is the new release from Dido. The album features a fresh blend of techno with classy lyrics. Many artists have tried to fill the void, but this is the first time it was executed correctly.

The first single, "White Flag", is an excellent song. The album version is a bit longer than the single released on the radio and the Apple Music Store. I purchased the single a few weeks back in iTunes, and have enjoyed it for several weeks. The album version is better, however.

I also enjoyed several other songs on the album including the second track "stoned". The lyrics throughout the album seem well though out. The album is organized quite nicely.

Dido has matured greatly from her last album. The change is almost as dramatic as Jewel's coming of age from Pieces of You to Spirit.

This album is a must have. I will be keeping my copy near the CD player for quite some time.
